KENT SCHLEICH
District 8

Kent Schleich of Fairview in Fulton County was elected to the Illinois Farm Bureau board of directors in 2000 to represent District 8, which includes Knox, Warren, Peoria, Henderson, and Fulton counties. He serves as chairman of the National Affairs and Marketing Committee, and serves on Budget Committee, the IAA Foundation Board of Trustees, and is the interlocking member of the Illinois Coalition for Animal Agriculture. He serves as the board's liaison for the Illinois Beef Association and also serves on the COUNTRY Trust Bank Board.

Schleich operates Sunnyhill Angus Farm, a diversified grain and livestock operation producing corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and Angus breeding stock. The farm received the Illinois Seedstock Producer of the Year award in 2003.

Schleich served as president of the Fulton County Farm Bureau from 1992-1998, chairman of the Education ACTION Team from 1998-2000, and chairman of ACTION Team Coordinating Council from 1998-2000. He also served as co-chair of F.A.C.T., president of the Fulton County Cattleman's Association, director of Fairview Farmers Elevator, and a member of the Fulton County Extension Council.

He is a member of the Illinois Beef Association, National Cattleman's Association, Fulton County Cattleman's Association, Illinois Corn Growers Association, Illinois Soybean Association, and American Angus Association.

Schleich received his bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education at Western Illinois University and did work towards a master's degree at Southern Illinois University, University of Illinois, and Western Illinois University. He received the Illinois Farm Bureau Presidents Award in 1998.

Schleich and his wife, Wendy, have a daughter, Emily, and are members of Fairview Reformed Church.
